Elements and Performance Criteria

1. Prepare to fabricate loose and fitted covers
   • Job requirements are determined from workplace instructions
   • Materials are selected and inspected for quality and quantities are calculated
   • Hazards associated with the work are identified and risks are managed
   • Tools and equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPE), are selected for appropriate fabrication methods and checked for serviceability
   • Work area is prepared and work is planned to minimise waste and use time efficiently
2. Measure, mark out and cut materials
   • Templates and specialist tools and equipment are selected and used according to safety and environmental requirements
   • Materials are marked out and cut according to patterns, templates workplace instructions, manufacturer specifications and fitting requirements
3. Fabricate, install and fasten covers
   • Covers are fabricated and assembled according to job requirements and workplace instructions
   • Covers are installed and fastened without causing damage to vehicle or components
   • Fitted covers are checked for alignment and quality according to job requirements, workplace procedures and manufacturer specifications
4. Complete work processes
   • Final inspection is made to ensure work meets workplace expectations and component is presented ready for use
   • Work area is cleaned, waste and non-recyclable materials are disposed of, and recyclable material is collected and stored
